Sr. Patient Access Representative (Bariatric Surgery)
The Department of Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, is currently seeking a Sr. Patient Access Representative. The incumbent in this position serves as a front desk check out and surgical scheduler for the Division of Bariatric Surgery. This position requires the ability to coordinate independently patient clinic appointments, insurance verification, scheduling GI and OR procedures, collect and balance payment transactions. Essential duties include greeting and checking out patients at front desk, collecting co-pays, making, rescheduling and confirming clinic appointments, getting authorizations, checking insurance benefits, preparing clinics, retrieving faxes, and handling patient related calls. Other duties as assigned.
Greet patients when they arrive at checkout desk and scheduling any future follows up requested by provider, ensuring patient leaves with any orders inputted by provider.
Answers phones, inputs patientís registration, makes and reschedules appointments, inputs insurance information and appointment authorization if needed in UCHART system.
Obtain correct demographic, personal identification numbers, and insurance coverage information. Verify insurance coverage for morbid obesity within 24 hours after making patient appointment.
The day before each patient clinic, prepare clinic making sure all forms are available.
Callís patient to remind of clinic appointment and gives all pertinent information and directions.
Ensure Surgical Scheduling of cases are done in optime system in timely manner.
Checking of voicemails twice a day and ensures messages are returned in a timely manner.
Keeping a wait list of patients who are seeking sooner appointments and contacting them upon any clinic opening.
Coordinating internal referrals and contacting patient to schedule appointment.
Scheduling of GI procedures with GI department.
Attend all training require by the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Perform at the highest professional level.
Other duties assigned.
Covering front desk as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent education is required
Three years of relevant work experience
