The Art of Door Knocking
(Those that will be won to God 2 0f 3)
In my 10 years experience of door knocking in my city, I’ve found that there are more
people hurt by the church than those caught up in false religions or satanic activity.
During a survey among Christians we asked, what would you say to a person if you
knocked on their door and invited them to church, _45__ % answered I don’t know. In
another survey question we asked, when is the last time you knocked a door to invite
someone to church, _79___% answered not in the last year. (Stats 2004)
Some of the concerns that came up were: Christians are aware that the church has hurt
a large percent of the people not attending the Church, but are unskilled at winning them
back. And Christians don’t want to go against the grain or flow of things to try to reach
someone that wouldn’t be thankful or ever attend there church. Answers to these surveys
can spark Bible Studies for Christians concerned with winning them back. However we
have found that it was easier to win this group of people to God than to the Church.
* Back sliders are often more skilled in the word then new converts (those concern with
winning them back) and also more advanced in liberty and usually highly gifted. Also some
of them have what is sometimes called a justified case against the church. These people
only appear to be locked out side of the Church but in realty they have been kept by Gods
love. One cannot approach them as though they were a backslider but they must be
approached as though they were brothers/sisters from a different land or culture but with

the same God. Because they are kept in Gods love, love is your only tool you have to
restore the misunderstanding that has caused them to leave the church or to be thrown
out. These households have the potential to have a Acts 2 experiences.
*Some backsliders have challenged a sin(enemy) and failed, they are angry with the
church because they were told or believed they were invincible. They don’t need us to tell
them that are in sin and need to come to God, they already know this. They are mad at
God because they trusted him for something and it didn’t work out like they thought it
would. Speaking words of faith is often the answer to there problem, but one must have
the power to believe that God will restore and counsel with them about this battle and
Lead them into victory once again. These households contain mighty armies that can
bless you far greater than you can bless them.
*Many backsliders have become sick of denominalism and has left the church
because of its perceived sin. So when you knock there door and give them your
Pentecostal (or others) script they immediately began to tell you the faults with the
Pentecostals (or others), you are now of none effect, bid them a good day and leave.
The denominal teachings were originally set up to teach you first concepts much like
elementary school. Then comes junior high and high school which would be the transition
just before adulthood or true Christianity (the whole truth), this backslider didn’t make
the transition. And needs an adult mentor to assist in the transition. One must understand
that this backslider has been limited in his/her power to believe outside of the box and
has also encountered the spirit of frustration because he/she could not do it on his own.
These households hold the potential to produce strong leadership ministries.

One must be patient and listen to what the person is saying at the door. The Holy Spirit
will always tell you what is wrong and or what to say. One must remember that when
having a door conversation there is at least three speakers (The Holy Spirit, the person,
and you,) you can only effectively speak 1/3 of the time to have a balanced conversation.
Our main concern on this project is focused toward bridging the gap between the
backslider and the church. We are highly concerned about the responsibilities of the
Evangelism department and there effectiveness in the kingdom of God. We believe that
the church walls cannot contain the entire body of Christ. And are willing to be used by
God any way he chooses. These writings are geared to reach Christians of all ages and
stages please pray with this ministry for its effectiveness in the Gospel.
