Decrease as God Increases (155 hits)

When I opened my eyes on yesterday morning, I first asked God to anoint me for a speaking engagement he had assigned. My topic was on "Happiness at any Age." Going over some last minute notes and referencing the internet for a few jokes to warm up my group, I realized that this would be a special day--that as the speaker for "Happiness" I would need to be the embodiment of it. I felt the anionting of the Holy Spirit. No anxiety or last minute jitters -- just ease. A confidence invaded me like an flood and I knew that God was with me. I asked God, not my will but your will be done. The very attire I selected at the last minute was not typical of me. I chose a really bright sunshine colored outfit rather than my usual conservative look. I said to God, I just want to be a light. I just wanted to connect with my audience and let them know that happiness is not something you can travel to, not something you can join, not something you can purchase, not something you can earn but true happiness is a result of helping others. I recommended Joy, a higher form of happiness which comes from a relationship with Christ, because God is Joy. Today, I was told that after I left, many people continued the dialogue and responded with a public desire to go to heaven. Ain't God good. My desire is inspire others to want more of God. His will was peformed, I was just the vessel. Later today, I received an invitation to return. Of course, I responded, it would be my pleasure.

The point of this blog is to remind my dear sisters, it ain't about us. It ain't about looking good. It's about serving others. It's about putting away pre-conceived ideas, and allowing God to rule...to be absolutely in control of our speech, our preparation, our presence, our demeanor, every element we need to bring under his control. And, when we do this, we can't loose. The time for posturing, the time for mimicking our male counterparts, the time for looking the part on the outside without real transformation, the time for elevating ourselves...is over. This is without a doubt a time for us to be about God's business. It is time for us to humble ourselves and to put aside culture and tradition to reach a wretched man and woman who has lost hope who just need to hear from somebody that is real. We have a clear opportunity during this shift that is occuring in our society to stand out....to stand out for Jesus. Each day determine to BE about something that is bigger than ourselves. God Bless.
